Summer Skin Trends

What’s our favorite skin trend of the summer? We are all about naked, healthy skin. Face coverings and masks are lifting to reveal full faces – and we are loving it!

Over the last year+, stress became our norm and a protective face mask was our most-used accessory. Now, ready or not, we are about to expose parts of ourselves that have been hidden for quite some time. Whichever direction the pandemic took your skin over the past year, now is the time to work on that healthy glow to once again show off your entire bare face.

So this summer, keep your skin free of excess oil, bacteria, sweat and always protect it with SPF (check out our survival kit below). And don’t be afraid to continue to go makeup-free, especially while exercising. Remember, pimples can take more than a month to form, so maskne may still plague you for the next several weeks. Sorry!

Skincare isn’t just about your mental health and fear of aging, your skin is your largest organ and your professional products and treatments help to keep it healthy. Of course, eating fruits and vegetables and staying hydrated are also very important.

We know hard work isn’t always trending on Instagram, but beauty is a signal of health – not vanity. Put your best face forward by booking a product reboot for later this summer with a Skin MPLS professional. Also, remind yourself of these non-negotiables when it comes to loving your skin

Your Summer Survival Kit:

Makeup brush cleaning mat. Time to dust off those pants with real buttons and wedge sandals and hit the town. But did anyone else forget how to apply makeup? Well, rule number one is to always start with clean brushes. So put brush washing back on your Saturday morning chore list. Make it quicker, cleaner, and easier with a brush cleaning mat. And the best cleanser for your brushes? Green Tea Cleanser.

SPF. When will we stop nagging you about SPF? Never! Stop worrying about physical versus chemical sunscreens and just find one that works for you. We promise there are acne-safe, affordable, non-ghosting options out there. Your SPF does not cause cancer, the sun does. When you buy SPF from Skin MPLS, it is all tested to be non-pore clogging, good for sensitive skin, high quality, and reef safe.

Toning Pads. Remove traces of dirt, oil, makeup, and just freshen up in general with some of our favorite travel-friendly pads. Fight sweat-related breakouts on the face, chest, and back by keeping these handy.

Normal/Dry: Triad Pads

Oily/Blemish: Raspberry Clarifying Pads

Acne/Sports: Daily Repair Pads

Refreshing Spritz. Nothing better than a cool spritz on a hot day. Use Iso-Rose Hydrating Mist to refresh, reset, and add moisture back into dry skin caused by airplane travel and sunburns.

BP 10% Medicine. Change in season, excess sweating, event makeup, cheese plates, and  many other summer activities can cause breakouts even if skin has been clear for some time. Remember you can manage acne, but you may always be acne-prone and pimples can (and will) happen. Keep Vivant’s super-weapon BP 10% Medicine handy for a quick anti-bacterial boost. (*Pro Tip: We don’t love spot treating so pat the medicine in the whole area of the face affected for best results.
