Morning Rituals For Better Skin
We asked our team of aestheticians – and everyone’s favorite Skin MPLS Studio Manager, Amanda – to share the simple morning rituals they actually do.
Nothing extreme. Nothing complicated. Just small habits that can support healthy, happy skin.
Which one can you start tomorrow?
Ice Your Face While You Make Your Coffee
A face icing session in the morning can temporarily reduce puffiness and redness, giving the skin a more toned appearance.
Cold therapy causes vasoconstriction (tightening of blood vessels), which is why skin can look smoother and less inflamed afterward. For acne-prone skin, it also helps calm visible redness, inflammation, and swelling.
Bonus: making your coffee at home can help you skip the sugar-heavy latte routine – and maybe redirect those dollars toward your facial fund. 😉
Red Light While You Reset
If you have access to red light LED therapy (like an Omnilux mask), morning is an easy time to use it.
Red light therapy has been studied for supporting collagen production and reducing inflammation. It works by stimulating cellular energy production, which is a much less technical way of saying it helps skin function optimally.
Pair it with meditation, deep breathing, or simply 10 screen-free minutes. Chronic stress can impact the body, mind, and skin, so taking a few intentional minutes in the morning may help regulate stress responses. You don’t have to be “good at” meditation, even slow, steady breathing counts.
Mask in the Morning
We know it sounds ambitious. But think about how many 5–15 minute windows already exist in your morning:
Brushing teeth
Packing lunches
Feeding pets
Answering a couple of emails
That’s mask time.
For acne-prone skin, a sulfur clay-based mask can help treat your pores and reduce breakouts’ inflammation. For dry or dull skin, a hydrating enzyme mask can help smooth texture and boost glow.
You’re not adding time – you’re stacking habits.
Bring Your Kids With You
If your mornings feel chaotic post-kids, you’re not alone. Sometimes the solution isn’t waiting for a quiet house, it’s bringing them into the bathroom with you and doing your routine anyway.
Is it tidy? Not always. Is it glamorous? Definitely not. Is it real life? Yes.
Even five intentional minutes of skincare models self-care so your kids see its importance. And consistency matters more than perfection. Plus, the photo ops are unmatched.
The Bottom Line
Healthy skin rarely comes from one dramatic change. It’s built through small, repeatable habits. You don’t need all of these rituals. Pick one. Try it tomorrow. See how it feels.
