Skin MPLS’s Top Ten of 2024
Is it just us, or does everyone love a good top-ten list?! Some of these are specific to our studio, while others are industry-wide. Either way, we are celebrating these skin-related highlights from 2024.
#10. Acne scarring be gone
We continue to say “goodbye” to acne and now we are saying “goodbye” to acne scarring too. Pro-peel treatments in our studio were a record high, microchanneling with SkinPen is going strong and raising standards on how good skin can look, and, finally, we brought on an affordable and super-targeted way to treat acne scarring with TCA CROSS. Thanks to our medical director, Becky, and your trust in us, skin is looking even smoother this year!
#9. Another Black Friday weekend sale record-breaker
When we measure success, it’s not in sales numbers, but the bigger picture. This year, people received orders faster, bought for their friends and family, and, most importantly, returned just weeks after their facial treatment with noticeably healthier skin after making more effort to be on top of their routine or adding new, targeted products. We are so encouraged to see that you love skincare as much as we do.
#8. Face Reality wins
From better packaging to celebrity influencers, Face Reality continues to grow and make a name for itself. They also leveled up their aesthetician education and saw great acne-clearing results thanks to their oral supplements. Our favorite thing about Face Reality will always be its affordability. With prices similar to drugstore products, there’s no reason not to find an acne expert and use Face Reality products.
#7. Artful Living magazine recognizes the studio
Our small little studio has been deemed a vibe worthy of Artful Living. While we have always focused heavily on acne, we love that skin of all types and ages is starting to recognize our results-driven approach. Thanks to our features in Artful Living (read the digital one here), we can reach even more people truly dedicated to improving their skin!
#6. Starting our makeup lists
Makeup ingredients and trends change so fast they will make your head spin! After scanning, checking, and assembling lists just to redo them we had this great idea to go, brand by brand, through every face makeup so acne-prone clients could navigate the makeup aisles a little easier. Featuring a new makeup line every two weeks should only take about thirty more years to complete – so stay tuned, and thanks for checking your makeup before using it on acne-prone skin! #5. Healthier skin thanks to Broadband Light (BBL) Treatments
Sciton's BBL machines have always been a staff favorite, but since our med spa last year's addition, clients have been enjoying the results of BBL treatments, too. BBL treatments treat sun spots, post-acne spot discoloration, redness, and the skin's general health and brightness. They have no downtime and are affordable compared to a lot of the invasive and overpriced offerings on the market.
#4. More waiting room run-ins
It's incredible to see how many of you are organically running into your coworker, best friend, mom, sister, aunt, family friend, etc., at the studio – and sometimes, without even knowing, they also come to us. It's fun and rewarding to see the six degrees of separation at Skin MPLS.
#3. Another year of Amanda and our staff
Amanda is a vital part of our business, and she is the friendly face EVERY single client comes in contact with at some point. She truly knows everyone, and she personally makes sure they get their products and communicate clearly about their appointment details. There's never been a front desk like Amanda, and over the years, we lean on her more and more for behind-the-scenes stuff as well. That's why we won't let a year go by without celebrating Amanda. Also, quick call out to another year with a 0% turnover rate and brownie points for two more clients-turned-staff growing their books this year! Thank you Becky and Kenzie!
#2. Finding an oil cleanser and sheet mask that we don’t hate
We've shamed your sheet mask impulse buys in the past and begged you not to oil cleanse (especially acne-prone people). We are not hypocrites; we are picky when finding good products and discerning trends. We are not behind the times; we are simply doing research and development. We are happy to not only find a sheet mask and oil cleanser we can stomach but also love and see outstanding results! Every single face can enjoy our Dr. Esthe sheet masks (especially this winter). But we still recommend checking with your aesthetician to see if you are right for, and for more education on how to actually use, our favorite oil cleanser.
#1. Vivant Skincare goes viral
We've been teaching people about Vivant Skincare for over a decade. Rarely has anyone ever heard of them. In the days of social media influencers, it only takes one video heard 'round the world to create a buzz that can make a small family business viral. And you know what, we are here for it. So thank you to Alix Earle for being brave enough to share her acne journey and recommend products she never got paid to discuss. The more people using Vivant Skincare, the healthier skin there is in the world – which is our mission whether it comes from us or another aesthetician or influencer out there fighting the good fight.
