How to Recession-Proof Your Skin

Five budget tips straight from your expert aestheticians. Times are tough. Inflation and shrinkflation may start to take their toll on your skincare budget. But, do NOT opt for cheap products or “free” TikTok advice. That will cost you more in the long run! Here are some heartfelt tips from us!

Cassie:

I always tell clients if their budget is tight, invest in your homecare routine and devices instead of facial treatments. It may be the opposite of what you expect me to say as a facialist and business owner, but your daily and nightly homecare routines pack a really big punch and are mandatory while treatments are optional. And then, we’ll always be here when your budget is feeling plump again.

Pamela:

Do not feel like you have to tip your aesthetician. And certainly don’t let the tip sacrifice a visit or product. I think I speak for everyone, tips are not expected! We will happily accept an email or positive review instead! We are in it for the love of skin, afterall, and lucky to work somewhere that compensates us very well!

Haley:

Be simple and practical with a routine. I want my clients to have just what they need to get their skin where they want it. If they want extra, then great! But, you will save money if you have the right products, regardless of their price. Always ask your aesthetician what's right for you and you’ll save tons on failed products.

Kaila:

Take your acne lifestyle choices seriously and you won’t be so dependent on acne products, especially spot treating. Try improvements to diet and stress and be open to digging more into lifestyle choices with your aesthetician. Then, in a pinch, you can get by on less product, but you still need a tailored regimen – always.

Lindsey:

Take advice from your aesthetician and you will have an easy time deciding what to buy. We never sell you anything we don’t think you need. Even as an aesthetician (before I was an employee at Skin MPLS) I came here for skin advice and was open – and even had to be a little pushy with getting product rec’s.  When I had all the right products I saw huge improvements that saved a lot of money down the road!

Amanda:

Cancel any subscriptions you may have floating around – especially any that deliver you skincare! You can save some money by canceling something and putting it towards a skincare budget. Anyone else signing up for television subscriptions in a moment of weakness and then never delete them?
