All You Need to Know About Vivant Pro-Peel
If you are wondering what more you can do about lingering pigmentation, fine lines, crow’s feet, dull skin, melasma, acne scarring, large pores, and/or sun damage – there is a simple solution to boost results – a Pro-Peel! Read on as we answer some common questions about our favorite advanced treatment.
What is a Pro-Peel? And what should I expect from one?
The Pro-Peel is a Vivant formulated, multi-layer TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel that stays on the skin for at least four hours (for best results). Each layer increases in intensity and the peel finishes with a thorough coating of strong vitamin A to promote an even and healthy peel! It is a medium-depth peel that penetrates the epidermis and was created by Dr. Fulton (Vivant Skincare founder and formulator) who was a brilliant chemist and created this safe and results-oriented peel.
You can expect mild to moderate burning/stinging sensation during the application, followed by about a week of heavy peeling. This peeling is more like shedding though. The dead skin comes off in large chunks and you can use a small sanitary brow scissor to trim any excess away. Now that most people work from home, it’s easy to do this peel anytime! Otherwise, you may want to take some out of the office time as you will be shedding skin. At the end of your treatment, we will send you home with a special post-peel homecare kit and instructions to follow for the next 5-10 days. Results are fairly instantaneous as your dead skin sloughs away to unveil newer, brighter skin below.
Who is a candidate for a Pro-Peel?
Everyone that is an existing client at Skin MPLS is most likely a good candidate. For best results, your skin needs to be prepped using a vitamin A serum at least a month before your peel.
When can I get one?
We recommend doing the Pro-Peel fall through spring mostly but will perform them in the summer if we fully trust the client to stay out of the sun. This is because you are more sensitive to sun damage the first couple of weeks after the peel.
You can get them instead or in addition to your regular appointments. For best results, we recommend one to two a year for normal skin with mild concerns and three to four a year for clients with more severe skin concerns.
How does it compare to other peels/advanced treatments?
The Pro-Peel is among one of the best advanced treatments. It is aggressive with flaking but gentle with side effects – and all skin types do well with it, which is rare. We love it compared to other peels because we never see any adverse reactions like burning or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
We have had new clients come in with terrible experiences from past peels that have left their skin worse and cost hundreds of dollars. This is why we refuse to peel new clients and give the false impression one peel will change your skin! First, we’ll get your skin ready for the peel and then we’ll safely give you the wow results that the peel offers!
When compared to other modalities like micro-needling, it does have more downtime and different specific targets, but the Pro-Peel is a superior choice for hyperpigmentation and anyone still getting active acne. And when compared to lasers, it is a less expensive option and safer for all skin types. Deeper skin tones can’t always opt for lasers unless under special circumstances and with a very skilled laser technician.
