Get to Know Skin MPLS: Meet Pamela!
Not long after Kelly joined the Skin MPLS team, we were once again in need of some extra hands in early 2018 – enter Pamela. Pamela was not only an aesthetician, but she was also an acne client here at Skin MPLS before joining our small team. Thanks to her commitment and enthusiasm to thoroughly understand and treat acne, it was no surprise that she was fully booked within months. It’s a combination of Pamela’s work ethic and her hatred for acne that helps her inspire clients everyday.
If you’ve received a treatment from Pamela, you’ve probably also received her emails frequently checking in on you and your skin. She’s happy to come in early or stay late anytime there’s a skin “emergency,” and she’s not just being nice when she says she will do anything to get you clear. When Pamela isn’t working, she is usually planning parties, vacations, or just relaxing at home with her husband and two Corgi dogs, Regis and Kathie Lee. Read her responses to some of our questions below to find out how Pamela landed her perfect role.
Why Skincare?
It combines my two favorite things, beauty and hospitality. I love making people feel good, and the fact that I was able to clear my skin and help others treat their acne, has been such a big reward.
Where did you go to school?
The Aveda Institute. It was the best experience. They really teach how to care for the skin while creating a relaxing treatment. And a HUGE bonus – I met Kelly there!
What helped clear your skin?
A combination of using Vivant products, frequent extractions, and not using any other skincare for the most part. My acne is almost always caused by pore clogging products. It’s hard to stay away from trying new products (it’s part of my job, afterall!), but I’ve worked hard to find a balance. It was a journey becoming confident with no makeup on, and nothing makes me happier than others feeling that way too.
What’s your best skincare habit?
I’ll do as many steps as it takes! I don’t understand hair and makeup, but I understand skincare and I love spending that time on my routine. I never miss out on masking, at least 1-2x per week.
And your worst skincare habit?
Picking! I am better, but it is so difficult to leave things alone. I have tricks though: I avoid magnifying mirrors all together! And my clients inspire me to do better! After all, I can’t tell them not to pick their face if I’m not able to follow my own advice.
What else are you passionate about besides skin?
Food is a big priority in my life, and I would definitely call it an obsession. I love music and I love going on walks – those two usually go hand-in-hand for me. I also love my friends and never miss an opportunity to see them.
